Inspiring Stories

Discover how our work has transformed lives
Note: While the stories are real, the names have been changed to protect privacy.

Joe

Joe‘s teachers know that he has very little food at home and comes to school hungry every day. Joe‘s mother works a minimum wage job, and they have no other family to help them. Their rent takes up most of the money they have. The Breakfast program at our school sponsored by the Optimist Club allows Joe to have a healthy breakfast every day. His teachers notice that he is able to focus better when he has had a healthy meal to start his day.

Ainsley

I leave COLS with lessons I will carry with me throughout life. One of those lessons was that I matter, and above all else I need to focus on myself first before helping others. With many
students our age we struggle grasping what goes “wrong” with our mental health. Its important to know everyone has bad days, and trouble with responsibilities of being a student and a teen.
Thank you Newmarket Optimist Club for sponsoring me to attend this amazing weekend seminar.
